Filing a PCT: International Phase
A great way to pursue patent rights outside of the US or any country is to file a PCT application. A PCT can be filed up to 12 months from the priority application filing date, and provides you with an additional 18 months to decide in which other countries you would like to file. PLS coordinates the efforts with its US IP legal affiliates to provide filing services of the PCT application to enter the international phase.
An applicant seeking protection outside of their home country must decide in which PCT countries they want to file prior to the 30-month deadline. PLS manages the national phase entry and provides translation services as required by some PCT contracting states. PLS also takes care of filing any required forms and ultimately the patent within the various states prior to the patent office deadline. Confirmation and official patent office certificates are collected and delivered to the client.
